ID Specialist
Description
CLASS SUMMARY:
Acts as a Trusted Agent that administers the issuance of the CVG Airport security identification media, while performing customer service and clerical work in accordance with general and specific directives in order to maintain all safety, security and compliance standards at the airport.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Administers all aspects of the badging process from application through the badge issuance phase.
- Issues, renews, modifies, and revokes airport ID badges in accordance with TSA regulations,
airport security programs, and local policies. -Verifies applicant identity and employment eligibility using required documentation. Conducts and processes background checks, fingerprinting, and Security Threat Assessments (STA) as required.
- Ensures compliance with TSA, DHS, and airport-specific access control requirements.
- Educates badge holders on proper badge use, access privileges, security responsibilities, and violations.
- Maintains accurate records of badge issuance, access levels, training, and background investigations.
- Updates and manages access control systems and badge databases.
- Investigates and documents lost, stolen, or damaged badges and takes appropriate action.
- Coordinates with and provides customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Enforces badge policies and report noncompliance or security violations.
- Deactivates badges promptly for terminated, transferred, or noncompliant employees.
- Provides badge training as required by Airport Security Plan (ASP).
- Performs audits and internal reviews to ensure program compliance.
- Prepares reports and assist with inspections, audits, or regulatory reviews.
- Distributes keys to airport employees and contractors.
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive personal and security-related information.
- Follows all airport safety, security, and emergency procedures.
- Assists with administrative tasks associated with ID badging.
- Processes Finance nightly for the day’s transactions.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED equivalent; 2 years of direct experience of a clerical, and/or customer service nature. Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
Required
- Maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance
- Ability to successfully complete and maintain TSA background check, fingerprinting, and Security Threat Assessment (STA)
DEMONSTRATED SKILL IN:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with data entry
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and database systems
- Ability to discretely handle sensitive and confidential information
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with various customers; including clear verbal and written communication skills
- Establish and maintain effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups
- Ability to interpret, explain, and enforce policies and procedures consistently
- Strong organizational and time-management skills in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure or sensitive situations
- Problem-solving skills and sound judgment related to access control and security issues
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic troubleshooting skills related to badge systems, printers, and access control equipment
- Ability to type a minimum of 50 wpm
DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Federal aviation security regulations
- Security area distinctions and access privileges
- Badge accountability, escorting rules, and violation procedures
- Acceptable identity documents (I-9, REAL ID standards, passports, visas)
- Name matching, alias handling, and document fraud indicators
